Celebrate New Years Eve in London

The New Year is always an occasion for marvelous, memorable celebration when all the world waits to usher in a brand new year. At the stroke of midnight, it's officially 'out with the old and in with the new' as the calendar changes to 2011.

Marking the new year in some super-special  fashion is an important tradition. Everyone is looking for a celebration that is fun and not-to-be-forgotten, and one that gives  a fresh start starting the fresh, new year.

Visitors to London are lucky in particular as the city lights up for New Year's and knows how to put on a good show. London has a number of sightseeing companies that offer full programes complete with New Year's parties and fun. Here are a few ideas to make sure New Years Eve London is one you will not soon forget:

Dinner and Dancing

What would a celebration be without a wonderful 'spread' and a little shakin' on the dance floor to go with it?  Golden Tours in the U.K.,for one, has a package for you that will make your New Year's Eve a night to remember, complete with a boat-trip down the Thames on a 5-hour cruise and a five-course feast.  Did someone say 'disco'? Well that starts up after dinner so you can get up and do your thing while the sky explodes in colour above you.

Fantastic Fireworks

What would the new year be if you didn't usher it in with fireworks?  London happily complies with this necessity as  the city puts on an incredible display streaking the sky over the London Eye,while old Big Ben sounds his chimes one the stroke of midnight. In London you can take in this amazing, light-filled show with all flourishes.

Classic Cruise

During your Thames River-Run under the stars, you might want to stop and dine again, if you haven't already (all that dancing can make rev up your appetite) at Chez Gerard or have it on board in a champagne and canape reception. All options are on the table when you spend the New Year partying in London-town you know!

Medieval Banquet

Medieval Banquet gives you,  shall we say, a 'unique' way to spend New Year's as you blow your diet on a five-course English banquet and witness entertainment from medieval jousting to ye old drinking songs, while 'wenches' draw flagons of refreshment for your downing. The beer and wine is flowing all night and revelers can join in the medieval dancing while they raise their glass of bubbly and sing along to Auld Lang Syne.

What about the day after New Year's Eve? It's just as important to have your first day in the land of the future with a plethora of regular tours on January 1, including "Historic and Modern London," an ideal choice for New Year's as you'll learn all about how it used to be in jolly old England in days gone by.

Alternately why not take in the  "Sights and Sounds of London"  tour or head out of London  on any one of a number of great day trips. There is one called 'Windsor, Bath, and Stonehenge' that may suit you or take-in England's best-loved royal sites like Windsor Castle or the awesome Salisbury Cathedral. Or how about my favourite--the tour of Stratford, Oxford and the Cotswolds which showcases  the famous university town and Shakespeare's hometown, and all done nonetheless while motoring through the English countryside, that has a beauty far beyond mere words to describe. You must just experience it!

London's got it all and is THE place  to ring in the New Year in U.K.-style.

Cheerio!
